The kids are wonderful, so energetic, so busy, so alive! After a couple of hours photographing in the classrooms the rain clouds cleared, the sun popped out and it was time to play outdoors. I had planned to leave early because I thought the bad weather would keep the kids in all day, I had plenty of film, so I followed them outside to the playground. Lots of quick moving targets swinging, climbing and throughly enjoying the the fresh air and sunshine. There was a group of 3 and 4 year olds playing in the sand - several offered to make me pies and cakes which I gladly accepted. I must have appeared really hungry because suddenly one little darling walked straight over to me saying "hewre you ahwa, have a pie" and dumped the yellow plastic shovel of sand right in my lap. The only problem was that as I had just squatted down the lower camera of the pair was slung in my lap as well. The whole load plastered my M6 and 24 with moist sand. Dead center! Could not have been more thorough! Probably the last thing I'd want dumped on my camera. (well actually not the last thing , Ted) Oh well! I shook it off (the sand) explained carefully how throwing sand was a very bad idea and kept on making pictures. I'm starting to think that a little contrast might help - maybe a light yellow filter ? Or maybe I should use a little longer lens at the sandbox. :) Seriously - no problems for the camera or lens. But boy was I shocked for a moment! Henry
