Hi Nathan; Pascal et al,
Yes it is me, Owen, the lurker.
I have read your posts about the new Nikon scanners and because I have been
on a digital sojourn as of late; I'd like to add a comment here.
So far, all of the quick reviews I'm seeing on scanner lists and Epson lists
are claiming that the weak link in these new scanners is: the software. Why
is this not a surprise? I think it might be wise to wait out a couple of
versions of the software and get the (mostly) bug-free version. Or, just
wait for Ed Hamrick's next version of Vuescan and you'll be laughing.
Oh yes, Austin Franklin asked why Nathan needs to scan MF at 4,000 dpi. The
best answer is: because he can! Compare any scan of 2,000 dpi to one of
4,000 dpi and print out an enlargement. Case closed! I had a drum scan made
of a couple of my favourite 6 x 6 chromes and I was stunned.
Hope this is of some use.
