Parallax. When you focus close, your field of view shifts down. This (the
dashed line) is the top mark for the closest focusing of the lens. And as
you focus farther away, your imagination must move the dashed line up
toward the solid line, which is for infinity. The bottom of the field is up
to you to imagine.
