Subject: Re: [Leica] Off topic: finding a portrait studio

I found what I need at the PPA web site and have already made an
appointment to meet a photographer and discuss my needs with her.
I know that the LUG is overwhelmingly male, but when I used the "find a
photographer in your area" feature on the PPA web site, more than half
of the 20 or so portrait photographers that it found in this area are
female.

I'm kind of intrigued by this entire project. My life and house are
filled with thousands of photographs of the people who live here and
their friends, but my wife and my daughters are adamant that they want
a posed formal portrait. It's more than a photograph; it's a cultural
icon.

And I've spent the last few weeks cataloging and scanning 100 old
pictures of my father and his parents; the rest of my family is
interested only in the posed formal portraits, and pay no attention to
the pictures that are not posed.
