Subject: [Leica] Light leaks

Would some kind person care to opine on the possible cause[s] of a light
leak I have experienced. Equipment used was a recently CLA'ed s/s M3,
90/2.8 Elmarit with hood, Leitz UV filter, and Portra 160NC colour
negative film.

Evidence is at

Frame 02 shows a distinct light streak up the right hand side of the
image, at least one shade of gray lighter than the adjacent areas. Frame
01 does not show a corresponding streak across the top of the image. The
split [third] image shows the streak from frame 02 but it does not
extend back to frame 01. The frame immediately adjacent to frame 02 [not
shown here] shows no evidence of the light streak. The lens was mounted
on the body after the film was loaded in a darkened room [frame 01 was
the first frame shot] and was removed after taking frame 02. The time of
day was the late afternoon last Sunday and the lens was pointed away
from the sun at all times. Frames 01 and 02 were taken within the space
of less than two minutes.

No other frames on the roll of film show any evidence of this light
streak.

If the streak on frame 02 is not a light leak is it possible that it
arose through processing?

Any and all comments will be gratefully appreciated.
