Is this a standard kind of > thing that I just ran into for the first time??? That message contained a request for a return receipt, and what you are describing is Eudora's reponse to such a request. It wasn't demanding that you reply, it was asking your permission to send the return receipt. Always answer "never" to those. My guess is that you got flustered by the question you were being asked and clicked on something that made your mail window go away. I consider that it is rude to put return-receipt requests into mail headers, but some systems do it automatically without the permission of the peson sending the mail. Dick, you are using Eudora pro 4.0.2 which is very very old. Eudora 5 has been out for at least a year, and there are dangerous virus vulnerabilities in 4.0.2. I strongly recommend that you upgrade. There are lots of options on the eudora.com website. Brian
