Charles,

I have been to San Juan several times, with my Puerto Rican wife. The city
has some interesting parts (especially the old quarter), but in general it is
not one of my favorite places. The ocean front is covered with hotels and
casinos a la Atlantic City. For me, the real charm of Puerto Rico is in the
inner part of the island. I love just driving around along the local roads,
stop at a roadside bar for a drink and a bit to eat, chat with the proprietor
etc. The El Junque rainforest is a must-see.

You should also be aware that San Juan has a high crime rate, so be careful
flashing your Leica and other possessions after dark.
