My point is that If a 6x7 negative is cropped to square format, the negative area left is equal to that of a Hassy, Bronica, Mamiya 6. When a square negative is cropped to suit an 8x10 format, the usable negative area left is that of a 645 format. The square format is ideal for CDs, H&D portraits and other subjects that form more or less a square composition. You have to admit that square or rectangular, most negatives are cropped to suit composition. Each format has its place. So does each camera type. I would not try to photograph close-ups or do product photography with a rangefinder nor would I be a tourist toting a Mamiya RB, Hassy or other bulky MF reflex. Cheers, Joe
