Seeing the supply of this lens is rarer than rockinghorse shit due to 
cost or difficulty of manufacture, why do Leica continue to advertise it in
'The Program'?

It's very mis-leading for new-comers to the R system. Maybe, they should
either remove it from the brochure or mention that it is "by special order
only".
