I have an R8, and the SCA 351 seemed to work for TTL flash control, until I
got the later 3000 series module, it just doesn't have the exposure
compensation control. Why do people say the SCA 351 module does not work
with the R8? I understood that it works, just not with the full
functionality of the SCA3000 system. Anyone see the new Mets 54 series yet?

I, too, would like to see a macro flash for the R8 that works TTL auto.
But, I you can still use TTL manual metering with the R8 with any macro
flash. Further, you can use the manual metering with a gray card to figure
out claibration for what f stop or power range to set for each given
magnification/distance, and set manually without metering. That is
potentially more accurate, because not thrown off by light/dark subject,
such as a white or dark red flower.

There is a neat flash from Porters for $120 that has two heads on goosenecks
and a power unit that fits in the hotshoe. Not TTL autoexposure, strictly
manual, but can be TTL manually metered with the R8. I am not sure how long
the goosenecks are, though.
