Tristan, you asked a couple of days back about colour/BW and so on. I think
that too many choices is a bad thing! My advice, for what it's worth, would
be to take the lens you're most _comfortable_ with (not the one you'd like
most to be able to use to incredible effect) and put the others in a timed
safe deposit box for six months. Then decide whether you want to shoot
colour or BW. Buy 200 rolls of whatever it is you decided.
Now you have to shoot all that film and you have equipment you feel at ease
with. Go for it!
All the pictures in my India 98 folder were shot with tri-x and a 45 mm
lens on a G2. That's what I used for six months, and it was a real learning
experience. After a while I knew exactly where the frame lines where
without even looking through the viewfinder and could do just about
anything I wanted with that set up. It's very liberating to work that way.
You concentrate on seeing and situations and not on all the equipment/film
choices you have. And you develop a real personal relationship with your gear.
Well, whatever, good luck.
Rob.
