I never thought of it this way before; personally, I just like the
viewfinder. The M viewfinder does not remove and isolate you from reality
like an SLR does. I like this, others may not. Up here in Canada, 99.99999%
of people think you have a crappy little old camera. They are much more
impressed with Cankon FOS 5v and a 15-2000 f126 lens.

I use M cameras because they suit me. If I wanted to impress the babes (or
beaus), I would use something else.

PS: Hard to use! What is so complicated about focusing and setting the
exposure?

PPS: I take a ton of useless photos :-)
