I think it might have to do with the focus cams on this lens.  You'll notice
that on normal subject distances (i.e., down to about 1m) you need to turn
the focussing ring very little.  So I suspect that part of the reason this
lens is easy to focus is that the zone between sharp and unsharp is a very
small movement of the focussing ring, therefore more snap.
