Subject: [Leica] How do they do that?

My Friday missive is not about tilley hats ( I have on but my kids forbid me
to don same in their presence) or about my PAW which is now at T minus 7
weeks and counting.  No it's about B and W photos that seem to have the
darkest black areas "bleed" into the ligther areas.  Some of michael Kenna's
work comes to mind.  The photos have an ethereal look to them.  OK
professional photographers out there - how do they do that.
