It's not about life or death. It's about learning. Speaking of which, here's a few tidbits I've learned so far from putting up my own web site: - -- a free hosting site may not have the fastest response time. Switching over to another site isn't that easy. - -- it's more difficult than it seems to build a site, especially when you have no particular goal in mind other than to brush up on java coding. - -- you have greater piece of mind regarding content -- including cheezy self portraits -- when you think you might get 1 hit a year, vs a dozen hits in a week from people with whom you correspond. - -- Presentation is important! (Why does that photograph look so much better in a nice frame?) - -- simplicity is good, but not always that easy to acheive. - -- if someone tears apart your favorite on-line photograph you can always claim that the original looks much better, rationalizing that they probably just viewed it with an older graphics card and a CGA monitor.
