I do not know Bob Shell. I do not know any of Bob Shell's relatives. However... IMO Shutterbug, for as long as I've been aware of it, has been nothing more than a photography shopper. Tons and tons of ads surrounded by the most pathetic excuse for serious articles - and respectable photography - - I have seen in any photo publication. Buzz, who started this thread, was kind enough to pass along his copy of the "new" Shutterbug to me yesterday...And damned if it isn't essentially the same thing. Yes, there's an article on all mechanical cameras - which has less information about each of the cameras than the so-called buyers guides out there. And there's an "article" on black and white photography - which someone seems to have just discovered - with truly sad examples of same that look like the stuff in the worst of the "how to take great photos" books. Sorry, guys, but Shutterbug is nothing but an excuse to sell ads. And given that, I would automatically suspect the credibility of the editor of such a publication. After all, no ads, no publication...which, I know, is true of every publication...but when the publication in question is one killing trees only to have a place to run ads...well... B. D.
