The file is large to show the detail you might wish to examine. Print was not perfect a few spots and stuff. I should get a neg. scanner... best wishes Jem - -----Original Message----- From: Stefan Kahlert [SMTP:S.Kahlert@gmx.de] Sent: 18 January 2001 10:04 To: leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us Subject: [Leica] A question for users of the 1,4/35 pre-asph. Hello all, after several years of absence from the realms of Leica-lore I seriously consider to buy another Leica. I sold an M4-P with summicron 50mm about three years ago because I had to finance a med-format camera (honestly I didn't *have* to by it but after the decision was made financing became an issue <g>). I owned the M4-P for only about half a year but from time to time I take a look at the beautifull b+w enlargements and remember the virtues of this fine camera. With the experiences from that time in mind I consider a used M6 with a fast (preferaby as fast as possible) 35mm lens to be the best starting point. I read many appraisals of the recent aspherical summilux 35mm (which, as a starter, is way to expensive for my taste and very rare on the local used market, so please let us keep this on topic) but little mention of the old one. As I take it from the archives and comments by Erwin Puts in the german LUG (which recently has been set up, seriously needs more input and can be reached via http://www.egroups.com/group/de-lug) care has to bet taken when using the old Summilux wide open where it is said to be rather soft and flare-prone although it should be on par with the previous non-asph Summicron when closed down a bit. I would be gratefull for some users-input on this topic: How do you use this lens in low light and what are your real world experiences under different lighting conditions? Are there any pictures on the net someone took with this lens wide open. thanks in advance! Stefan - -- Stefan Kahlert
