Having a 24mm and 35mm frames at the same time would be no more distracting - -- and no more stupid -- than having the 50mm and 75mm framelines in the same view. I checked Leica's homepage (anyone know why it was designed for myopics or those with a 320x240 screen?) and they state that the framelines for the .58 are: 28/90, 50/75, and a single 35mm frame.
