It is not a Leica made product. It is re-labeled product from an optical company in Wetzlar. Anyway, of the three loupes that I own, the best is the Schneider 6x ASPH, second is the NPC 5.5x, and third is the 5x Max. Yes, the frosted end piece for slide and strip viewing is convenient on the Max, but the image quality is less than the two aforementioned loupes and the Max doesn't have a translucent skirt for letting light hit the contact sheet image while you are trying to look at same. I use the Max to look at neg and transparency strips to find printable and mountable candidates.
