I love the story about Giles Peress told in 'Magnum' by Russell Miller (pgs
285 - 287) and the occasion Peress was asked to shoot a Latin American story
for National Geographic. This was about 1991 and Magnum was being paid $400 a
day to cover the story. NG became concerned after several weeks that Peress
had not finished the story and decided to pull out when Peress said he still
hadn't covered Bolivia. Up until then Peress had shot 1,600 rolls of film at
a cost of $40,000 for film alone! Such luxury.
