Adam,

It is none of my business, and I do not want to get into religious wars about the merits of UV filters, but I assume that the reason
why you use one is to protect the lens. In that case, it can safely be assumed that both the inner surface of the filter and the
front element of the lens were pristine. Why, then, did you remove the filter to clean the lens?! It seems that you are cleaning
your lenses too much. Just take it easy and just clean them when they really need it. The methods vary; I use  compressed air to
blow away dust, breathe on the lens and wipe carefully with lens cleaning tissue. Works fine and I have never had a scratch (and no,
I do not use filters).
