i've often said the same thing - "gotta use something slower than 400." but
each time i've done so (usually slowing down to 100), i find that i miss a
hell of a lot of shots, 'cause all things considered, i more often than not
shoot indoors in low light or outdoors at twilight or at night.

the big bright outdoor shots are few and far between.
