The problem with my USED lens being soft until I sent it to Leica for calibration could have been caused by the previous owners' actions, I don;t know and don't blame Leica for this problem. I am just happy they fixed the error, so that I have confidence in the lens again. My story reinforces that the used piece again needs to be checked to see that it too does not a have a problem especially before taking that once in a lifetime trip. It is also good practice that even new cameras go through a period of user testing before that special trip or assignment.... Dropping lenses is a fact. Incompetent independent repair men is a fact. Infant mortality is a fact. User error is a fact. 100% quality is a myth. Test before you accept something is working to spec. New or used. Especially if the pictures you take are important to you. Frank Filippone red735i@earthlink.net To infer from a few bad examples that the state of Leica quality is below any reasonable industry norm is untenable. If Leica cannot hold a machine tolerance of 1/100 mm in general, they should close the doors immediately! Erwin
