Any optical experts >who can suggests more tests for lens difference? don't let them fool you: both digital P&S cameras are identical. The Leica has, as you noted, a somewhat different rubber grip and, of course, the red dot... Other than that, I believe the Leica does come with Adobe Photoshop 5 LE, which may explain the price difference. With the Leica Digilux Zoom, it was just the same, but the price of the Leica was actually cheaper than the Fuji MX 1700. >>> The Fuji 4700 and the Leica rebadge "Digilux Finepics 4.3" are identical except for: 1. The different finish 2. Fuji gives a 16MB card, Leica a 32MB 3. Leica includes Photoshop LE software 4. Leica's price is LOWER. I have not found anyone to say the lens is different. If you found the Leica to be more expensive you are dealing with the wrong dealer...as I stock both and Leica charges me less than Fuji for this camera. As a consequence I sell the Leica for less...but perhaps others use the name as an excuse to reap more profit??? I doubt that will last long in the compeditive digital market. Let me also tell you that thought the lens is not Leica, the camera is very good. It is a giant leap ahead of the Digilux Zoom that proceeded it. I haven't had any customer be dissatisfied with one yet as far as I know and I have sold bunches... cheers, rich
