No joke.

Stop down metering.  Besides, you're implying that you'd use Leica glass at
any other aperture than wide open? ;)

There's this fabulous new invention out, called a 'ground glass'.  It lets
you focus the lens manually and you can see when the image in in focus on
this 'ground glass'.  A bit like a rangefinder patch, only you don't have
two images -- or so I'm told ;)
