For anyone on the list interested in photography ... The latest issue of
Aperture is a must read....a fascinating piece about the fact that Gene
Smith's widow has transferred the rights to his iconic Minimata photo to the
parents of the now dead child in the photo - and they are against having it
used, displayed in the future. In fact, Aperture could not get permission to
print it with the article. Comments from a number of photo curators,
historians, etc., on the public's right to see this kind of image v. the
subject's privacy rights, etc. etc. Important stuff.

There is also a piece on Chuck Close's daguerreotype work...and some other
interesting stuff as well....Definitely worth the $14.95 U.S.
