That rather depends upon how you take pictures, doesn't it?  If you always
bolt your camera to a weighted tripod, only use shutter speed shorter than
1/125s, only use slow speed film, and only ever enlarge to 16x20 or larger,
then yes, I'm sure that you'd see the difference.

If you on the other hand routinely shoot hand-held at 1/30, Tri-X or faster
film, and rarely print above 11x14, then chances are that other factors are
going to "erode" some of that advantage.

Alternatively, if you want a the new lens -- because it's a new lens -- then
buy the new lens.  You'll do yourself no favours trying to justify it in
false terms.
