The basic conclusions were that the Honeywell AF module was a solid state design, no moving parts, thus more adequate for a portable device like a camera and cheaper to make. Even at the time the Leica R/SL was a niche product, the company was financial tight and would hardly have justified massive r&d investments. On the other hand the correfot system was successfully marketed for industrial use, as a measuring device. Hans-Peter
