The most striking feature of the holocaust has been aptly described as the banality of its evil. The same applies equally to other acts of genocide, particularly in the 20th century. The mechanization and routinization of mass murder has no doubt been greatly enhanced by the technological advances engendered by the "war effort", WWII in particular. Joe Sobel
