I must say that the max aperture is pretty feeble and I wish they had made the effort to keep the 3.5 spec of its predecessor. Otherwise it is every bit a Leica lens in solidity and picture quality. The rotating front element is another inexplicable retrograde step IMHO but I am not a big pol user and when I use grads it is usually with a fixed shorter lens or a longer zoom without the rotating front problem. Never used the macro setting but suppose it might be useful to some. As an aside, I noted with interest that several Japanese pros I have known had the macro setting of their Nikon zooms disabled as part of the extensive customising service Nikon Pro services offer in Japan: curious... I wonder what special customisations Leica has done in recent years for finnicky pros: I know they used to do all kinds of weird stuff but it seems one has to go a third party these days for that.
