Good question which opens up another bag of worms, especially with the
free movement of labour around the EU.  I suppose that in 100 years
from now, "Made in EU" will mean something.  Today though there is
still a national variety in products which is a good thing.  

What would you think if you were in Paris and went into an expensive
French restaurant and ordered the day menu, only to have an English
chef slap some greasy egg and chips on your plate?
