Well, if they come anywhere near my neighborhood, they would be well advised
to do so!  At least that's what the guys at my neighborhood camera store say
(actually, they tell me I shouldn't be walking around sporting an M camera
at all).

My guess is that most folks tape up there red dots simply so the camera
draws less attention.  That bright red dot does tend to draw the eye to it.
Probably wouldn't fool a savvy thief, I would guess.  Of course if you only
take photos of your grandkids and other family and friends (basically,
photos of people you want to smile into the camera), it probably doesn't
matter at all.
