Subject: [Leica] M's and studio flash

I think they are plain jinxed.... My M4-2 will fire a Wein IR flash trigger
everytime you advance the film... People look at you like an idiot when the
flash fires while the camera is pointed elsewhere... So... I no longer use
that combination.... But at the same time it doesn't fire a shoe-mounted
flash when advancing the film... go figure.

I'd check to see if the camera contacts are dirty or if the tip on the sync
cord needs to be re-formed.

Intermittent sync cords are a source of great frustration.... which is why I
recommend the use of a good radio or IR flash trigger in the studio... It's
also nice not to have extra cords to work around.

The disadvantage of the IR units is that certain pulses can fire them...
for example a flickering fluorescent bulb can do it at times... At HCJB we
have a strobing light in our studios instead of a audible ringer for
incoming phone calls... Which fires my flashes... And it is really
annoying when no is around to answer the phone.
