Further, looks like a good MF (6 x 9 cm and 35mm) scanner is 
about to cost another $4000, if the rumors are correct. Down the 
toilet in 5 years? If you want to ride the wave, yes. Your printer or 
scanner may need maintenance (if available) after a few years, but 
they're still going to crank out the same quality of images they are 
now, barring breakdown.
