alas b.d. not only is it not satire posted by me, but it's not the first
time someone's posted this question.

though, here's what i'd do:

buy the black .72 and spend the other $2,500 on gunpowder and whiskey.
load everything up into the Chevy Blazer and drive to some town on the
outskirts of gettysburg PA and hang out a sign that says "free gunpowder
and whiskey" then spend the next two weeks taking portraits of people who
come by.

you'd have to set up some rules, naturally, something like this:

1. all whiskey must be drunk on premises.
2. gunpowder/whiskey will be distributed ONLY on a 6:1 ratio

that'll assure you that your participants will hang out and party before
taking their gunpowder away and anybody who wants LOT of gunpowder will be
good and drunk when they leave (and therefore very likely to do something
dangerous that will generate interest in your photos, i.e. "hello
associated press, you know that old guy in bird-in-hand pa who blew up the
grain elevator yesterday? i have the last photograph of him. he's holding
a sack of gunpowder in one hand and a bottle of old crow in the other. are
you interested?")
