Try an Espon 1160 and the Piezophotography BW setup.  www.inkjetmall.com.

I bought one just last week. With Photoshop and this setup you will be
AMAZED at how easy it is to get a really nice black and white print.  I'm
still working out the ways to get a luminous, exhibition quality print from
this setup, but I don't think it will be that difficult.

And take a *VERY* good look around the net for information on the
"Orange Shift" problem that they have been having with that printer
and its ink set.

I think that it's bad enough that Espon, Canada (and maybe Epson USA)
is actually buying back printers....

The Epson 2000p uses a pigment based ink set and seems pretty neat!
