Obviously, not enough people share our high opinion of this camera, so if Leica can increase R sales with new models, great. When I asked my question about why there were no new R lenses this year, part of Leica's answer was that from now on they do not want to announce things that will be available only several months later. They specifically referred to the 2.8/35-70mm in this context (as an example of this kind of mistake). Their goal is that when a new piece of equipment is announced, customers should be able to go out and buy it right away, while the excitement is at its highest. I guess the new 28mm Summicron M will be the test of this. But in general I was very impressed with this group of people. Compared to the meeting 2 years ago, they were much more business-focused and market-oriented, and also willing to make and announce tough decisions (such as no autofocus). While they will not make everyone on the LUG happy, I believe that the chances of Leica surviving and even thriving are higher now than they were two years ago. Kind regards, Nathan - --- Pascal <cyberdog@attglobal.net> wrote: > Let's keep our fingers crossed then although, once > again, I am personally > not looking for another body than the R8 (it fits > the bill perfectly - > one cannot compare M's to R's as far as size/weight > is concerned), but > admittedly some people do.
