1954-6 is the date given by Pont/princelle in '300 Leica Copies'.
Nice bargain! I picked up an SL2 body recently for 300 GBP (about $420) and I thought I was doing well !

Subject:	[Leica] OT Help with age of C***n RF body?

Hello Luggers,
I'm back for a bit after a 6 month hiatus. More on why later. I was
at my favorite thrift store last week and spied a Canon IVSB2 (I think),
#1319XX sitting on the shelf (not even the collectables case) for $4.95.
It has a nice 50/1.8 lens (#2716XX) and was too good to pass up. It's in
now with our resident Leica Doctor, Bill Crispien (can't believe he's 83
already) for new curtains and CLA. Anyone have a source I might look up
for the age? Reply off list please as this is a C***n question.
As to why I've been away: I got busy hosting a regional training
workshop for Ophthalmic Photographers here in Portland, helped my wife
deliver our 4th child (had to sell my M4-P to help pay for the mid-wife
(but managed to keep my 35mm Summicron), working on the re-model to add
an upper story to our house, puttin' up firewood for winter, and the
usual excuses.
Best of light to everyone, David Duff.
