I believe many dealers list their imported Leica equipment as "unused in
sealed box" rather than saying something like "gray" or "imported". I don't
know why they are shy about it because Leica, unlike other large camera
companies that shall remain unnamed, honor the warranty here in the US. The
bottom line is usually a 3 year US warranty for the higher price or a one
year warranty on the import for the lower price.

Nope, I wasn't (just making a joke out of the price difference).  I'm
genuinely unsure on what the precise, exact difference in meaning (in this
context) of the labelling 'new' and 'unused'.  Doesn't seem to make any
sense to me.
