You will lose all the frames. I believe that DAG will "blank off" framelines you do not want but this is usually done with the six frame finder and I do not know if is possible with the M3 as it a completely different design from the others. I have noticed that the older cameras tend to be quieter than new cameras but this may just be a function of the settling in of mechanical parts over time. Late production M3 rangefinders can be adjusted to focus lenses to 0.7 metres but I do not remember the serial number when the change happened. Enjoy the camera, John Collier
