This brings to mind the lyrics from The Police's "Driven To Tears":

What does it have to do with me?
What is my reaction, what should it be?
Confronted by this latest atrocity
Driven to tears

My comfortable existence is reduced to a shallow,

Seems that when some innocents die
All we can offer them is a page in a some magazine
Too many cameras and not enough food

Protest is futile

Of course it's the images recorded by all those cameras that have driven the
narrator to tears, awakened his conscience, in the first place.
