As far as accuracy, no sextant, plastic or metal, will give a very accurate 
reading from a small boat, because of the boats pitch and roll in the water. 
A larger vessel, OTOH, can provide a much more stable platform from which to 
take a sight. But the more important question is, has (automatic) GPS 
replaced the (manual) sextant, making it obsolete? ? Is this an indication of 
the future of  the manual Leica M? Arthur
