I remember I was completely shocked when reading that one of the
characters in Graham Greene's "Our Man in Havana" was shot. The bullet
travelled right through the lens of his Leica (F, G?),  thus wasting the
man, the lens and the camera; can't remeber exactly, though, whether
this is shown in the movie.
