Literally, "Society with limited liability".

It means almost exactly the same thing that "Limited" does in the UK, and 
is similar to "Incorporated" in the USA.

Best translation of "GmbH" is "Inc" if you are American and "Ltd" if you 
are from other parts of the British empire.
