Thanks John,

I'll be using both 100 and 400 speed print film; Reala and Portra (NC
and VC).  Your suggestion to underexpose the ambient a little with a
properly exposed pop of flash sounds just the ticket for the blur shots.
 And I've played around with the SF20 and M6TTL with Nocti since my
first post.  It looks like the SF20 can be very effectively throttled by
the camera's TTL flash sensor and the auto sensor, so I should be able
to get the very subtle fill effects I'm looking for with the portraits.  

It should be fun.  I'll let you know how it works out.
