Bud,
The last of the pre-Asph 35 Summicrons are being knocked down for 499 GBP
here in 'Blighty (about USD 749) - check out Ffordes web site if
interested. A bit of a bargain if you ask me, several dealers have s/h
stock above that price! I've not compared them myself but I've read several
reports which say the difference is nowhere near as large as the Summilux
lenses and alonside that, there's a lot to be said for the smaller size
too.

regards,
Jem

Of all the transactions I've made with Jim, only one thing bothers me. At
about the time the new 35 Summicron ASPH came out, I called him up to buy
one. He convinced me that I'd be better off with the pre-ASPH. I'm
still
not sure whether Jim was anxious to sell his stock of pre-ASPH lenses or if
he really believed what he was telling me.

I'm happy with the pre-ASPH and so I rationalize why it's a better lens
than
the ASPH (neutral color rendition, small size, better hood, lower price).
