Just read a review in a Danish newspaper of an exhibition currently at
The New York Historical Society, 2 W. 77th St. It is a photographic
record of lynchings in the South from the late 19th century until the
middle of the 20th century. Apparently lynchings were popular public
attractions around 1900, to the extent that postcards were made until
the USPS refused to carry them. According to the description of the
exhibit, it should be interesting and shocking documentation of this sad
aspect of U.S. history. It runs until August 13th.
