Dave,
        Instead of looking for a lab on the road, why not FedEx your film
back home to a loab you trust.
        FedEx doesn't X-ray packages.
        The only thing I would be careful about is to drop of the film to an
office, rather than let it cook in a drop-box.
        The 2nd Day service is reasonably priced and you would have you
pictures waiting for you when you got home.
        As for film, in the US, you can ask for hand inspection of carry on
baggage, so no X-rays there. Anyone crazy enough to put film in checked
baggage,  deserves to get it zapped
