The cassette gets tossed out as soon as the film is removed. When I've helped out at a local pro lab, they've had me put a sticker on each cassette before bringing it into the dark room. The sticker is removed from the cassette and stuck on the film rack right above the film clip. Then the cassette is pulled apart and the film attached to the clip. The sticker is removed from the rack after processing is complete, and placed directly on the film end. If the technician accidently places your film on the wrong clip, there's no way to sort it out later, at least not before the customers see their film. Peter Jon White
