Subject: [Leica] 35mm Summilux filter

This is my first post to the LUG so please be gentle with me if I ask what
may appear to be a stupid question.

I have a 35mm Summilux, from the serial number I believe it was manufactured
in '66. Does this lend take a 'standard' filter (by standard I mean one that
can be bought in a high street camera shop)? If so what size?

I don't really want to re-open the can of worms regarding whether or not a
UV filter should or should not be used, but I'm going Island hopping in
Greece and Turkey (or should that be island hopping in Greece and bus
hopping in Turkey :-) shortly and although I don't usually use a filter I'm
feel happier with one for this trip. If a non-standard filter is required
and I can't get hold of one in time so be it, the lens (and the M2 it's
attached to) is still going on holiday.

Incidentally I've been amazed at the quality of images produces by this
lens. After years of using an SLR with zoom I was blown away by this detail

Thanks in advance

Steve Unsworth
